The Maharajah Indian Restaurant in Newquay, established in 1980, is not only the best in Newquay it is the only real authentic Indian Restaurant in Newquay if not Cornwall. To obtain the authentic taste, the proprietor, Vasant Maru, employs professional chefs, all fully trained in India, who are from different provinces and can therefore draw on inspiration from across the country. The restaurant prides itself on its use of spices, the variety of subtle tastes together with fragrant and exotic spices are deliciously blended to create different types of dishes, using the best quality ingredients. To ensure an ever changing and vibrant menu Mr Maru travels to India every year to learn about new dishes and methods of cooking.
The Maharajah Restaurant specialises in vegetarian, seafood and tandoori dishes with vegan options readily available and, in addition to traditional Indian dishes, English dishes and children’s portions are also on the menu.
The restaurant, with its disabled access, is light and airy, and has the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. It has magnificent sea views and is open from 5.30pm ‘til late every day of the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Large parties are welcome (booking is necessary) and a catering service for outside events is available, please contact the restaurant for details. During the winter months a visitor survey is conducted and a randomly picked customer is offered a complimentary meal for two. Christmas specials and taster menus are also available during the cold dark evenings.
The Maharajah Restaurant is justifiably proud of the takeaway service, including drinks, that is offered. A full menu is available, with free local delivery on orders over £12.00, including free cutlery and plates.
