DJ Tim Lord

Venues
The Sailors pub, Berties & Buzios

What type of music do you play? A bit of everything, mainly Chart, RnB and Rock

When did you become interested in DJ'ing Always loved music with a passion but spent most of my time writing and playing as opposed to actually DJing. Then a few years ago I thought it was about time I put my CD collection to
>some use and started getting in to it

How did you get started? I started off working in the pubs and then got offered a daytime slot on Malibu Surf FM which I do now every summer. The more I played the more people wanted me
to play and so I started getting more gigs. Now the resident DJ in Buzios on Saturday night and play at quite a few others throughout the main season.

Favourite Venue? Well it's got to be Sailors hasn't it!

What do you love most about your job? haha, umm.....well...I would be lying if I said the perks weren't good! ;) Nah seriously the best bit is having a really good night when people are clearly having a good time, it's nice to know that people have been listening to the stuff I have been playing.

Why Newquay? I was born here and live out at Holywell Bay. Having gone and lived in other parts of the country when I was older I decided that I loved this area the best and Newquay is where I have always worked in the summer. Theres just something about it that you dont find anywhere else in the UK.

What music do you like and what is on your Cd player This week? Well, I love acoustic guitar and so I have a definite soft spot for acoustic stuff. I like chilling with stuff like John Meyer, Jack Johnson (whos playing in Newquay this summer!) Lifehouse, Three Doors Down, Hoobastank, that kind of stuff. As I said, I'm currently in Peru so all I have is my mini disk
player but the MD that has served me the best has been the '"Thicker than water"" soundtrack, some amazing songs on there. The latest band I have been listening to a lot before I left was Steriogram. They are a New Zealand band and they have a real cross between Rap and Rock. The album is kind of Chilli Peppers influenced and is definately worth a listen!
